Come to DC with RISE Expeditions
Our nation’s capital has long been a place of touristic interest for foreigners and natives alike. About your guide
Joe Rivera
Joe is a native Angelino who spends much of his time learning about his own city by continuously exploring others. Before becoming a tour director, he taught English and Science to Deaf middle and high school students in his hometown of Los Angeles and then served as a Language and Culture Ambassador to elementary students in Torre del Mar, Spain. It comes as no surprise that as a jack of several trades, Joe is expanding from simply leading tours to designing them. He’s here to inspire our travelers to pursue new possibilities through new destinations. Contact: jrivera@riseexpeditions.com
Pursue New Possibilities in Our Nation’s Capitol
RISE is happy to introduce its first-ever tour of Washington, D.C. centered around the Deaf community. This experience is meant to connect you and your students to D.C. on multiple levels: first, with those who have made D.C. home, and second, with college students at Gallaudet University who are completing a degree at the world’s only university designed to be barrier-free for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. You will take a campus tour led by a university student, eat at Deaf-owned and Deaf-friendly businesses, and even have the opportunity to get involved in advocating for Deaf rights.
RISE Expeditions has taken everything you already love about our educational itinerary – from visiting Capitol Hill and the Arlington National Cemetery, to the presidential and military memorials – and tailored it with your students in mind.
